Survivor Status:
Survivor (In treatment or post treatment)
About Me:
Cindy Papale was born and raised in the New York area and is currently the administrative assistant at the University of Miami Psychological Services Center. Her twenty five years at the university includes twelve years at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Department of Surgery, where she worked for a breast surgeon.

In July 2000, Cindy’s life changed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her story is a moving account of how one woman took a traumatic life experience and used it to help save other lives. The message she is taking to high school, college, and other young men and women is that breast cancer does not affect only older women.

Cindy Papale has now lectured to over sixty thousand students, has been on the front cover of the Miami Herald’s “Neighbors” section and Miami Cancer Magazine, and has been chosen for the 2006 Strike Out Cancer Hall of Fame. Cindy’s story also appeared in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Quest Magazine in 2007, and in October, 2008 Cindy appeared on channel 6 South Florida Today Show.

Cindy also discusses being single and sharing with her family and friends her experiences in an article about Communicating with Your Loved Ones about breast Cancer released in the Living Beyond Breast Cancer newsletter in October, 2007.
Inspirational Quote:
Ribbon of Hope: By my aunt Phyllis Briglio (R)2007

I looked down and as I wept
I saw the ribbon on my chest
Pink and looped, symbolic yet
It gave me comfort on my breast
¬
Doctor’s words were hard to take
Decisions now that I must make
Was so vain, not long ago
Life’s more important, that I know

Through the sleepless nights I pondered
‘Till the dawn came up I wondered

Then I knew, this too shall pass
With future focus, not the past
Won’t be easy, that is true
Pink ribbon ladies help me through

Many have been there before me
Many more, I know there will be……

Take my hand and hold it tight
Must find the courage for this fight
Battles I have fought before
Please help me now to WIN THIS WAR!

Hi Cindy!

I'm sorry! I never saw this message from you from May 10. I'll have to take a look at your site, etc. I got cancer in 2007 and closed my production company of 20 years in Hollywood, NeTV, and have been in battle/recovery mode ever since. What sort of production do you do? You mentioned you're a production assistant. I'm working on relaunching http://netv.com -- are you working in production now?

Thanks for writing Cindy. Been working on going to community college and learning how to write so I can share the kidney cancer stories that are out there. We need to spread the word.

I'm sure people will check out your website! I look forward to getting the book and reading it. Always interested in cancer books and people's journey. I started my book last year but haven't finished it yet. It is my journey through cancer from my journals. We also did the 23 day tour across the country from NYC to LA on a pink RV lots of stories about that trip in the book. AJ & I are working on it just takes time.

Hello Cindy,
It is so nice to meet you! I love the *Ribbon of Hope*. You have done so much in this battle! I am still working on writing my bio, will have it done soon. I am now in *remission* from stage 2 colonrectal cancer, and found that I have kept alot of old stuff in my soul. Many things still to work on to get better. But for now, as my surgeon said, I do have tomorrow!
