Survivor Status:
Survivor (In treatment or post treatment)
About Me:
I am a 46 year old mother of four, diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2008 and finished chemo therapy December 2009. I had a unilateral mastectomy in October 2008. My cancer was Her2Neu+++, but I am determined to never ever go through this again. I did a full year of Herceptin infusions.
I taught preschool for 7 years prior to my diagnosis and have been making jewelry for over 15 years. In 2007 I decided to open my jewelry studio online and that is what I do full time from home now. That, and with 4 teens, and a dog, A LOT of laundry! Keeps me busy! I am also a counselor with Network of Strength, a breast cancer support hotline. http://networkofstrength.org

Congradulations on almost being done!!! We shall have to celebrate when you are done with your last chemo! You will have to post a pic of your kayak when it is done, you deserve it! Sounds like the gym is a good idea, and with the kids all in school, more time for you again! You sound fantastic, how is your artwork going?
Hugs and prayers,
Laurie

Hi Koryn,
How are you doing?? Busy here with the Caring Place and my folks. Travel for them is the word of the month. So I will have Hannah dog again, next Friday, and in charge of new wood floor going in at my folks house. I need new floors!!! Busy month. Looks like it will be this winter when I am able to get back into school, issues with school from when I withdrew when I first got sick with my colon-cancer. It figures. So waiting out the next couple of months, then back. Hope that you are doing well, and very busy with your artwork. Have a great week!
Hugs,
Laurie

Hi Koryn,
Hope that all is well, and the summer is treating you to wonderful weather and family.
I have crossed over and started doing some beading.......I am hoping to get back into school this fall, and sneak into the jewlery class again, so that I can use the torches.
Love your work,
Laurie

Okay, if you and Kellie are doing jewlery today, I may have to dig mine out!!!! I do not have a torch, so very limited at home. Have 2 small butane torchers. Trying to make enough heat is very interesting to melt solder! I am not a big bead person, but had much fun at a class 2 weeks ago, and managed to make several items, looking like maybe saving them for holidays..........in using the metals, I took 2 classes at the local college, and have made several items. Would love to get into it full time, but with metals so high now, just waiting a bit. Do have some to work with. I also make wire tress's that I was taught by an artist in southern Ca.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Koryn
Hope that you are doing well, has been awhile since we last talked.
I am hoping to start school this fall, lol, yes again! I have promised myself that I will finish...........I can't have that many classes to finish! I have started taking beading classes, but would much rather be working with my silver, brass, and copper that is sitting here. Soon I hope.
Hope to hear from you soon and that all is going well for you and yours,
hugs,
Laurie

I'm glad you had your time together before everyone goes off to college. My son & daughter live in MD with their kids so I don't get to see them as often as I would like. I miss them. I'm flying back east on April 28th I can't wait. I'll keep my granddaughter all week, she is 18 mths old.

Colby must be a golden?? My favorite breed! I have to post my past dogs still. Do not have one now, just the ying/yang cats. I lived in VA, when I was 13! My Dad was Air Force, and we lived at the Armed Forces Staff College for 6 months, outside of the base (navy I believe). It is a beautiful area. My 1st love (ex-fiance) lives out there now. He found me online during the holidays, have not spoken to each other since 74! It was a hoot! We where in England together during high school. I am a military brat and loved it!
Hugs and prayers that you are doing well!
Laurie
