Survivor (In treatment or post treatment), Parent, Holistic Treatment Provider
About Me:
I am the Director of the Cancer Prevention Coalition for Los Angeles. We give seminars to the public on awareness of avoidable risks of cancer from environmental toxins. I am a cancer survivor myself, but lost my Mom to cancer in 1982, she was only 56. She had worked for toxic Revlon cosmetics for 20 years putting chemicals on women across the US for 8 hours a day. I found out about the harmful chemicals in daily used personal care and beauty cosmetics, and decided to help others avoid carcinogens in the products they use daily in and on their bodies and in their homes.
Inspirational Quote:
Life is too short to be anything but happy, purposeful and kind to others.

Do you know where your pink dollars are going? Giving to companies that manufacture carcinogens?

I lost my Mom to cancer in 1982, on this very date, October 15. She had worked for toxic Revlon cosmetics for 20 years putting toxic chemicals on women across the US for 8 hours a day.
Did you know that Susan B. Komen, American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Research Foundation will not tell consumers anything about the dangers of carcinogens and harmful ingredients in daily used products? Try going into their search engines and type chemicals in products, or cosmetic chemicals, and nothing wi… Continue

Thanks, Shelley, for the info. I do not wear makeup and the only cosmetics I use are Mary Kay skin care products. I hope they are not toxic - Mary Kay is a good company and try to stay up to date with health awareness, so I believe they are probably safe. I do not use any of the major brands found in drugstores and department stores (Revlon, Cover Girl, Maybelline, etc.) so I'm probably using safe products. I will check it out with my friend who sells Mary Kay! Thanks again. Wendy

My heart goes out to you! I've lost my father, grandmother, cousin, and uncle to colon cancer, and fortunately, my brother is a testicular cancer survivor. We both know the lwevels of carcinogens in our lives today! Very scary!

Nice to meet you! Debbie

Thanks Shelley.... My little sister lives just outside of Mpls., Minn., married with one son. She's had rheumatoid arthritis for probably 20 years now so I know she's had toxic chemicals just to fight that. She's a very optimistic woman and she's got great support around her and I think a great team of doctors. She has now quit working so I'm sure the stress level has been removed as long as she's not stressing about this.. I agree that stress can be one of the most negative factors in fighting this disease. I know she's watching her diet - eating numerous small meals a day instead of the basic three but she's tired all the time which I'm sure is due to the medication. I appreciate your support and any advice you can give.. Dale

Hi Shelley - I am indeed the same realtor from 25 years ago. I'm with Coldwell Banker in Malibu - have been for what seems forever... My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer 1 1/2 years ago; had a double masectomy, chemo and radiation.. We were informed the cancer came back about 2 months ago. She's now back on chemo and has had radiation on her back along with Avastin once every 3 weeks. This is the most disgusting disease known to man!
