About Me:
Well, finally done. Had some really good followups with my oncologists and my breast surgeon. Now on to removing my ovaries so I don't have to go on Tomixfin then I can finish my reconstruction. It was a bear but I did it! I kicked that bi$&ch Skinny Maria's butt and was more than happy to do it!

I was diagonsed on January 21, 2009 with IDC. I am currently mid way through my chemo then on to radiation. Finished chemo last month and am now on round 5 of rads. Only 25 more to go not counting the boosts!
Originally from New York City (Brooklyn to be exact) I now live in the Seattle area with my husband and 2 children, Tessa 10 and Michael 7.

Hello Tina,
Are you able to go out and find a yoga place. I have a great dvd of Kundalini yoga that I am able to do at home. So much easier on me right now to do it at home. Let me know, you can order it online or maybe at Whole Foods may have it. My brother is now a certified Kundalini instructor! My grandson used to do it with me when he was living here, he loved it and is only 4. It may be a way for you and your kids to do together, and only do what you can. I am still not able to do all reps but working at it.
And I feel pretty good afterwards, and it does not seem to aggrevate my fibromyalgia, which is a switch!
Hope that your week is going well,
Laurie

Hi Tina,
I do know about the fear you are talking about. I am now 3 years out from my dx of colon/rectal cancer, and I am just taking it a day at a time. It is hard to not worry about it coming back, but that added stress of worrying is not healthy for YOU! And your friends are wrong, you are not a jerk, it is your body, you are the one dealing with it, inside and out. Are you meditating at all??? I have found that meditation and now reiki is working really well at keeping me grounded. If you are also able to start doing some simple yoga excercises that may help also.
Turn your fear into a fighting mode and during treatment visualize your cancer cells getting smaller and smaller, until they are gone. Now is the time to take that step forward, and take control of you.
In knowing that I may have a relapse and have to deal with it again, is a fear, but I and all of us have tomorrow. Hang in there!
Sending you many healing prayers for you and your family,
Laurie

So here I am in phase 2 of treatment. And I am wondering when this is all over how do I live with it? How do I not worry that it might come back? One of my tumor margins was not as wide as the surgeon would have liked it to be as it was so close to my chest wall. Friends tell me to stop being a jerk, it could be worse, it could be in my nodes which it is not. So how do I stop being afraid???
